We just discovered Hellyer County Park this last week. They recently updated their playground and we had to go check it out. It was $6 to park and they are open from 8 am to sunset. The playground was amazing! Think kid dreamland. They had a section for the older kids and a little gated playground for the younger ones. There were swings and slides and so many places kids could climb and explore. They had a fun little sand box in the toddler area with water spouts so kids could get really creative. Over in the big kid section they had a rock wall to climb on as well as a spider web spin toy as I like to call it. A little further away there was a beautifully designed splash pad. We are going to have to come back here on a hot and sunny day to enjoy that part.
Besides the fantastic playground we also enjoyed taking a stroll around the Cottonwood Lake. There was a stroller friendly 2-3 mile loop to walk around. On our walk we saw various birds, ducks, geese, turtles, and we even spotted a craw dad. There are lots of benches and places to stop and walk down to the waters edge to throw rocks or catch reeds. Several people were fishing. The trees were beautiful, the air smelled wonderful, and everything was so peaceful. My boys were in heaven. We will definitely be coming back here again soon.
