The Santa Clara Central Park Library is one of our favorite places to go. And it’s FREE! They offer so many fun things. Here is a list of our favorites.
Storytime: Usually Tuesdays-Fridays form 10:30-11:00. Go here for calendar list of days and times. They also have different ages including Baby Lapsit (Ages 0-12 months), Young Ones (Ages 12-24 months), Toddling Twos (Ages 24-36 months), Preschool (Ages 3-5).
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program: Great program to get you to read books with your children to get them ready for preschool or kindergarten. You can click here to sign up online or go to the library and get a keepsake folder full of instructions and your first reading log to fill out. For every 100 books you read you can bring your log sheet back into the library for a milestone sticker and the next log sheet. At the completion of you 1,000 books you get a prize.
Discover & Go Free Passes: The library offers admission to many museums around the bay for free with their Discover and Go Passes. Most of them say you can only get one pass per card holder per year. You log in here with your Library Card Number and last name. Then you can either search by venue or date and pick the passes you want. You may only have two reserved at a time. New passes become available on the first day of every month at midnight so if you want some of the popular passes like California Academy of Science or the Exploritorium you may want to stay up late. We have had so much fun with these passes trying out lots of new places for free thanks to the library.
Summer Reading Program: Great programs to give you incentive to read all summer long. You can sign up here or go to the service desk at the library to pick up your packet. Keep track of the books you read all summer long and then return your log sheet in during the month of September and receive your reward. We got a free book of our choosing, bookmarks, stickers, free meal to Chik-Fil-A coupons, Free personal sized Pizza at Round Table per person.
Summer Concert and Movie Series: Lots of fun free concerts around the fountains and in the pavilion at the Central Park Library. Go online for list of all events and times.
